Privacy
The site is static and has no accounts, advertising, affiliate tracking, or active newsletter processor. It uses self-hosted, cookie-free analytics and records a small sample of anonymized sessions to improve the site; details below.
Analytics and session replay
We run a self-hosted Umami analytics instance (stats.gaspode.dev). It counts page views without cookies, does not follow you across other sites, and shares nothing with ad networks. To understand how the site is used, a sample of roughly 15% of visits also records an anonymized session replay (scrolling, clicks, and pointer movement), capped at five minutes, with page content masking applied. The site has no working forms, so no typed input exists to capture. Replay is a launch-period instrument and is expected to be removed once early usability questions are answered.
Newsletter status
The newsletter form is an inert TODO and does not transmit or retain an email address. Before it is enabled, the plan is to use Buttondown with double opt-in, document Buttondown as the processor, state the retention rule, and test unsubscribe end to end. None of that setup is represented as complete today.
Embedded video
YouTube content is not loaded until you select the load button. If you do, the page contacts `youtube-nocookie.com`; YouTube's own privacy terms then apply. A plain outbound link is always provided.
Outbound links
Camera and citation links open third-party sites. Those sites have their own logging and privacy practices.
